Chairman of ARAC
President of Japan Adhesive Industry Association
The Japan Adhesive Industry Association will host the World Adhesive & Sealant Conference 2016 (WAC2016) at the Shinagawa Prince Hotel, Tokyo, Japan, for four days from Tuesday, October 25 to Friday, October 28, 2016.
The World Adhesive & Sealant Conference (WAC) is held every four years, alternating among America, Europe, and Asia, to discuss various subjects related to adhesives and sealants. This time round, it will be held in Asia, and the host country will be Japan, which chairs the Asia Regional Adhesive Council (ARAC). This will be the second time for the Japan Adhesive Industry Association to host the event, following the 4th WAC that was held in Kyoto in 1992.
The world’s adhesive industry has achieved remarkable development. The business environment surrounding us has also undergone major changes. The issues with which we are faced, such as environmental problems, legislative controls, and raw material supply problems, are becoming increasingly complicated and globalized. WAC2016 is an international conference that aims to gather not only manufacturers of adhesives and sealants but also suppliers of raw materials, equipment manufacturers, and sales persons together in one place. I believe it is highly significant for the development of the industry that WAC2016 participants take this opportunity to discuss topics in common and see them in a new light.
The main theme of WAC2016 is "Creating Tomorrow" with three keywords: Environment, Creation, and Evolution. I expect that cutting-edge research results and accomplishments will be presented along these keywords. The results will certainly be of great benefit to the participants.
Tokyo, the venue of the Conference, has served as the center of politics in Japan for more than four centuries since 1603, when Ieyasu Tokugawa established the Edo shogunate there. As the host of the Olympic Games in 2020, the capital city is rapidly undergoing transformations day after day. With leading-edge technologies intermingled with historical legacies, Tokyo will surely fascinate the participants of WAC2016.
We look forward to wide participation from the world over. It is our wish that all participants deepen exchanges with one another and seize opportunities for new development at the Conference, and that the four-day conference be a highly productive one. We also hope that all participants will enjoy their stay in exciting and exotic Tokyo to the fullest.
I hope to see you in Tokyo!
